The Contribution Only You Can Make…

I’ve been spending time at a couple of Starbucks in Independence. Partly because I am a nomadic wanderer without an office, I do have the “War Room” in my basement which kicks serious butt, but you know what I’m saying. So I spend many early mornings in Starbucks to read, study, and pray. But I have also been trying to meet the staff and other patrons while I’m there.

The location on 23rd street is awesome (just so you know). The staff is phenomenal, extremely friendly, and they have a lot of fun at work - you can tell. I’ve been able to meet a couple of baristas. I’m looking forward to further opportunities to connect as I continue to frequent the store.

Today I was also able to talk with a guy who is an artist, in fact he has aspirations to illustrate comics. And he graduated from UCM, so we had that in common. He shared his hope to one day break into the indie comic scene and so forth.

As we talked I was reminded that God has specifically created each one of us and set us in this time and place for divine purposes. And E. is wrestling through these issues, what do I do? Man, I have no idea (I try to be honest).

But what I know without a shadow of a doubt is that there are literally millions of people who read comics. People that God loves desperately and longs to see restored to wholeness in Jesus. And here is a guy uniquely positioned in just a time as this to make an impact that only he can make. I’m never going to illustrate a comic. I’m never going to write a graphic novel. I’m never going to create comic characters. But here is a guy who can use his God given abilities to affect lives for eternity.

That’s intense brutha.

How has God positioned you to make an impact in our world that only you can make?
What is the contribution to the world that you have been uniquely created to make?

And in all seriousness I’d love to hear back from you on those questions.  Really I would.  I know there are several who read this blog and I’d love to hear about your crazy dreams for impacting a world that desperately needs dreamers.

It’s not necessarily about the scope of the vision, it’s that we’re even dreaming at all about our role in the Kingdom.  So what are you dreaming up?

What say ye?
